We started our journey by creating wedding & party cakes more than18 years ago.

After visiting dessert bars in other cities we decided to focus on creating individual desserts paired with wines. We also wanted to create a line of prepackaged cookies, chocolate bars and more. A chef driven dessert experience was something that we had never experienced in Seattle and we decided to be the ones to introduce it.

Looking through family recipes we worked on how they could be modernized and improved. With more than 100 newly enhanced creations and our own new creations we set out to find a space for R&M Dessert Bar in 2016. That search led us to our current location at 601 E. Pike Street which we opened in November 2017.  We chose our location for its proximity to the neighborhoods we had lived in for nearly two decades. We specifically choose a space small enough for us to be able to run ourselves.

From 2018 - 2021 we presented our  Chefs' Tasting Event on Thursdays. We planned this as a way for our guests to enjoy desserts not available in our dessert case. Many of these desserts were from our catering years and were a great way for our guests to experience truly special dessert creations.

2020 presented everyone in the restaurant business with unprecedented challenges and hopes for survival. We ended our experiment of having three tables and our shop evolved into a takeaway dessert bar boutique. It helped us improve our ability to make even more desserts for our guests.

2021 was still a struggle for many in our industry as 2020.  We remained committed to continue to provide our version of comfort food in our desserts on which our guests have come to love and rely on.

2022 brought our Chefs' Tasting Event DUOS box. An exciting way to experience old and new desserts.

In September 2023 we replaced our Chefs' Tasting Event DUOS boxes with FOUR, a perfectly portioned four course dessert experience with optional and amazing wine pairings. Each menu is presented for three months, seating is by reservation only with multiple seating times each evening of FOUR.

We have aligned ourselves with other professionals around the world in creating a takeaway dessert boutique which offers Seattle and its visitors our best creations.
